About Benjamin
Benjamin M. Smith, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for dermatology and patient-centered care. He joined the Dermatology Specialists of Gainesville team in January 2026, bringing prior years of dedicated dermatology experience in the nursing role with a particular focus on skin cancer and skin cancer surveillance.
Benjamin earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of North Florida, where he also completed a minor in Leadership. He went on to earn his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Florida, further strengthening his clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence-based practice.
During his graduate education, Benjamin gained extensive hands-on experience in dermatology and developed a particular interest in the early detection and treatment of skin cancer. He takes a thorough and compassionate approach to patient care, helping patients understand their diagnoses and make informed decisions about their treatment.
Having grown up in the area, Benjamin is excited to serve the surrounding communities that have been part of his life. He looks forward to building lasting relationships with his patients and providing high-quality dermatologic care close to home.
